Success in Africa!
Jul. 14, 2008
We just got back from our African Safari with Ferroland Bowhunting. I can not write the words to describe what an experience it was. All my life I just considered Africa a place that I would just watch TV shows about. I never dreamed I would have the opportunity to actually go and experience hunting African game...

HUNT OLD MEXICO!!!
Feb. 21, 2008
I must admit...I am a little behind. I have several good excuses, but I will not go into them all.
Bowmex Outfitters. We got a chance to go hunt with Bowmex Outfitters (www.BowmexOutfitters.com.) in Old Mexico and it was a blast. It was Me, Darrell, and Scott Shultz (president of Scent Blocker) that were doing the hunting. It was so action packed we will get at least two shows. Darrell and I both took nice bucks, all three of us took javelinas and hogs. Scott had a close call with a monster (160" ten point) that just did not work out. Then he got picky and he had to go home empty handed, but that is hunting. Read More...

First Whitetail of 07 is a Hometown Buck
Oct. 16, 2007
After Jeff and I returned home from Montana we decided to give the Whitetail a try here on my families ranch in Hamilton TX. The first afternoon back we headed out to the ranch. The temperature was in the lower 90's so we weren't expecting much. We got settled in our stands and with the temp so hot there wasn't any deer movement until about 30 minutes before dark. We had a couple does and fawns come in first. Then we had a little 6 point come in. After the 6 point came in we thought we could here a buck rubbing a tree from the direction the 6 point came from. The rubbing stopped and after a couple minutes you could here foot steps coming our way. I knew it was going to be a buck so i told Jeff to be ready. What stepped out I wasn't ready for.

Gods Country Outfitters comes through
Oct. 15, 2007
Jeff and I just got back from Montana hunting with Shane Erickson owner of Gods Country Outfitters. Shane hunts all private ground and has a comfortable wall tent camp, The first day we saw some good bulls and heard more we couldn't see. The second day started off slow then a little after lunch we spotted a good 6x6 herd bull with some cows. There was a good 5x5 bull following the herd and Shane thought if we got close enough we could call him in. We snuck in to about a 100 yards and got set up. Jeff and i set up about 50 yards apart and Shane set up about 50 yards behind us. Shane started cow calling and it didn't take long and the 5x5 bugled.

I got my first bull elk. He was a 5x5 and I got him on the 7th morning of our 8 day Oregon elk hunt. We actually heard this bull from our camp the night before. That made it easy for me to decide where to go the next morning. The morning came and we loaded up and drove as far as we could to get around where we thought the bull would be.
