I CHOKED ON FIRST TRIP OF THE YEAR....ARGGG!!

Doug from New Hampshire with his Wyoming buck, Gross 145

I just got back from my solo trip to northern Wyoming with Big Buck Outfitters ( www.BigBuckOutfitters.net ) and I have a sad story to tell.

This was my second time with Brian and Big Buck Outfitters and he has a fine tuned operation. I actually had a whitetail and a antelope tag, but I wanted to focus on whitetail. It is amazing on the number of deer in the Big Horn area. The numbers of deer make sitting in the stand a blast.

You hunt out of treestands and double bull blinds that are placed on food sources or brush pockets where deer tend to travel. One my first day of sitting I counted @ least 25 different bucks. It was amazing. On the 4th morning about 9 am I spotted this nice 10 point headed my way. There was no doubt he was a shooter. He eventually came by at 33 yards and my Muzzy went right over his back. I was sick! I was about 16' to 18' up in a tree and he was down the hill on the edge of the creek. It really hit me when I got down to get my arrow, how much the terrain dropped off. I shot the buck for 30 yards, but evidently I should of shot him for about 20 yards. The buck probably would of been pushing 145" to 150".

There were 9 or 10 hunters in camp and everyone got at least one shot and there were five success stories. I got to witness Doug from New Hampshire take his 145" nine point from across the field. That was exciting!
